How does carmax's 7 day offer work?

"Want to know what your car is worth? To get an accurate estimate before you sell your car, bring it to CarMax and our Buyers will appraise your vehicle. We’ll give you a free written offer good for 7 days, and we’ll buy your car whether you buy one from us or not." Thats a direct quote from the site. What I want to know is after the seven days they wont buy it from you, or is it you have seven days to think it over before they will buy it from you? Also I have expired tags and NO insurance on my car. I want to know if I can drive it to Carmax without getting in trouble. If I get pulled over can I tell the officer im driving it to Carmax and get away with it? Also will carmax buy the car from me the same day as I bring it there?

1. You need to ask Carmax about their offer, but I can tell you for certain, it is NOT ok to drive an unregistered and uninsured car. If the "I'm driving it to carmax" excuse was allowed, you'd have a lot of people that would be claiming to go to Carmax.
