Must I have car insurance?
I'm thinking about buying a car but cannot afford the insurance. Can I have a car with no insurance? I live in Amherst Massachusetts and not really familiar with the rules over here. Thanks a lot for any respond.

- no, you are supposed to be insured for your vehicle. If you can not afford the insurance, think about buying a different car.
- If you don't have insurance and you get pulled over you'll get arrested for not having any and if you wreck and it's your fault, you'll have to pay a crap load of money to the victim ad also can be put into jail. You should get a car you know you can afford. The insurance companies give discounts for things such as having more than 2 doors, being a good student, having alarm systems, having airbags, and even being a senior citizen.
- in most states now you are required to have insurance, you may want to check with the laws in your state,i think thats pretty much the law in most states now,and getting caught without it in some states means they will take your license away ,some states are adapting that law now, good luck.
- mass is a mandetory insurance state. That means you must have a state mandated minimum amout of insurance.Besides, if you ever got into an accident without insurance, you'll must likely, be sued into oblivion in civil court. if your borrowing the $ to purchase the car, your lender will require full comprehensive insurance in addition to the liability. Best bet for you is to keep walking.
- Massachusetts does require Auto insurance. Please Don't drive without it
- Sure, as long as you don't register the car or drive it. If you want to drive the car, you're required to have minimum liability limits. If you can't pay cash for the car, and need a loan, you'll ALSO have to carry collision and comprehensive coverages. If you can't afford the insurance, you can't afford the car.
- Make sure you have insurance. If you hit somebody you are going down and if you live with your parents and you have an accident. They could get sued and lose everything they've worked very hard for. I believe Insurance is a Federal Law. I would consider getting something inexpensive and getting liability insurance to be on the safe side.
- Massachusetts law says you must have auto insurance. But you should shop around. Find out what the legal minimum is and then shop around for quotes.
- You can not afford not to have insurance
- If you can't afford insurance you cannot afford a car. Go away and stop thinking about being so damnably irresponsible.
