I have a junk car that I want to sell for parts. Any tips - I've never done this before.?
It no longer runs and has body damage primarily cosmetic. It can probably be repaired but it would be more money than I'm willing to spend on it. I just kinda want to get rid of it and forget it. The loan is paid for and I have the title.

- 1. CALL A TOW COMPANY AND THEY WILL PICK IT UP. 2. CALL A JUNK CAR BUYER AND THEY WILL BUY IT. 3. PART IT OUT ON EBAY AND YOU WILL MAKE MORE.
- You could either have it towed to a junk yard (or drive it there, if it still runs) and see how much you could get for it, or you could take out an ad in a newspaper or used-car publication (like auto trader) and advertise it as for parts-only. You'll probably get more for it selling it yourself, but if you just want to get rid of it, bring it to a junk yard and take whatever they'll give you for it. You can probably haggle a little with the price, but just remember that you probably want to get rid of it a lot more than he wants to buy it, so don't get greedy!
- if you dont sell locally its to expensive to mail parts. what about the scrap yard or ebay motors...
- Call a junkyard. They will usually pick-up old cars. Call the local tech school. They might want a project car for the classes to work on, in which case, they may send a tower for it as well.
- Look into giving it to a local charity if you don't want to part it out yourself. They will tow it away for you, and if it's fixable, they'll repair it and auction it off, then you get a tax write off. A junkyard or junk car buyer will only give you $150 or so anyway.
