where do i stand with the mercedes dealer ?

Hi there, i ordered a Brand new Mercedes about 3 weeks ago. The car had to be ordered from the factory because of the extras and they had found a similar car to what i wanted already built but i had an extra 6 cd changer and Dab radio built in which i had not ordered on my car. Therefore the sales woman rang me and said they had found me a car but it had two extras which were a cd changer and DAB radio, she said they cost 500 but they will give them to me for free. Now the car has been delivered to the dealers and all the finance paper work has been signed and the 20,000 cash has been paid the sales person now says i still owe them 550 pounds before i can collect the car for the cd changer which i was told that it was going to be thrown in for free. They say i either pay it and have the car that is delivered or they have to order me a new one from factory and the prices have risen this week for the same vehicle and i would be subject to new prices if i decided to buy the one i ordered previously. What do i do now ? where do i stand ??? i never signed nothing to state that i had ordered a cd changer i have sorted all my insurance and everything on the car which i was supposed to collect on sunday. Could you please advice on where do i stand in this situation ? I really want the car on the 1st but i why should i pay the 550£ which they told me i dont have to. what could i say to mercedes dealerhip ?? They guy said he would call me back but hasnt. So if i dont hear from them by tomorrow afternoon should i go to the dealers directly my self??? Sometimes they dont even return my calls even after i spent 31k thanks

  1. told you yesturday pay up and shut up
  2. Ahh my friend ur been baited and switched,,,nickle and dimming u over 550, and a Mercedes..Time to call Mercedes corporate this way ull get from under the dealership..I live in the US (PA) and all of the Benz dealerships have been sold from owners that had them for 30 years and the new wave of owners are slashing and burning and the customer service is suffering...
  3. Go to the dealer. Explain to them the facts of life about the recession. Accept that you should have gotten any changes to your order in writing. Offer them £275 cos you don't want to pay more for a factory delivered car. Enjoy Sunday when it comes!
  4. Fair to say that you should have had this all confirmed in writing. However, check YOUR paperwork. Does it give a final price which ties up with what you have paid or agreed. Also check to see if it also contains a note of the chassis or VIN number. If the price is correct by you and the VIN number is there you may have a chance here. Go back and tell them that you all agreed a contract and they are renaging on it. Tell them that you want the cat that has the VIN number as per paperwork, that they issued and agred to, at the price stated on the paperwork. Make it clear that you will settle for nothing less. Also let them know that your next course of action will be to contact Mercedes UK direct and should that not give you satisfaction then you will consider legal action for breach of contract. Check all of the details on all of your paperwork first though to make sure that you are on the safe side. You could also consider going to the Citizens Advice Bereu to see what they say. Alternately, go back to the dealer and tell them that you do not accept their offer. Tell them that you want your money back complete with interest and you will go some where else as they obviously do not want to sell cars and give good customer service. The effect of this could be that they will simply say OK but no interest. Conversely when they realise that they may be left with an expensive car in stock which represents money to them which is not earning anything they may well just give in. Remember, there is a ressession and the motor industry is in dire straights globally and they need to move metal.

  6. Tell them that the car they are offering you does not match with what you contracted to buy in terms of spec or price and you are seriously thinking about a BMW - oh yes -and you want your money back. Put it in writing (recorded delivery) and keep a copy. Mercedes customer service has gone to the dogs.
  7. quick tip from a man in the know..car sales are suffering more than most in the current climate. they will want to register this car for their march targets. if they have transferred this car in from another dealer they will have to pay mercedes for it very soon.go pick your car up as planned, this going to be the busiest day of their year. the last thing they want is a disgruntled in their showroom, they will just let you take the car without paying for the cd.
  8. Hi There, First of all, I am so sorry to hear about troubles with Mercedes-Benz. For the record, not all dealers will put you through this sort of grief. I can honestly say that threatening to buy a BMW, go to MB corporate etc might get you what you want, but people working in dealerships are people too and human nature response to that would be to put them off side. The best advice I can offer is to go to the sales manager and give him details of your situation. Give them the dates and times and the conversations held and let them know that you are disappointed that your salesman is now requiring more money. Go in prepared, though. Check your OTP (Offer To Purchase) and check Vin#, Stock# and the costings of the vehicle including what you were supposed to pay and what those costs included. If the vehicle (with the extras) has the same details as the vehicle on your OTP and there is no mention of the extras, then you are 100% covered. This basically means that any extras that aren't listed but the vehicle has, are at no cost to you. If the vehicle listed on the OTP is a different vehicle, then ideally you could tell them that you will only accept that vehicle and if they cannot provide that vehicle, then your contract is NULL & VOID. If you do choose to go to MB Corporate I would advise not threatening it first. Just do it and wait for the dealership to contact you... Generally, when complaining to MB Corp, they will contact the dealership and force the dealership to deal with the complaint appropriately. Good Luck - I hope you get everything sorted with the dealership :)
