I need to sell my car so i can downgrade to something i can afford. its worth $9000 and i owe $6000?

i'm in michigan in a small town my car is worth $9000 according to kelly blue book and nada. i listed it on all the free online websites and in a auto magazine that cost me about $35. it hasn't sold so i was thinking i would lower the price to $8400 and list it again in the magazine.

  1. With the current market, there's no guarantee you'll be able to sell it for anywhere near the book price. Cars just aren't selling well. People are cutting back and making do with what they have.
  2. You owe $6000...sell it for $6000. With the glut of used cars, you'd be lucky to sell for anywhere near KBB price. Besides, you weren't really thinking you'd make anything off of selling your car.
  3. It IS difficult to sell a car in these times, but not impossible. Consider posting notices of your car for sale in prominent places where there would likely be shoppers: Bulletin boards at big businesses (if they'll let you...or ask your friends to post at their bulletin boards at work). Bus stops. Most grocery stores have bulletin boards for their customers. And high schools (with school officials' permission, of course) and colleges, where there is always a need for a used car. Finally, ebay and Auto Trader are THE most common places online to buy and sell used cars.
