  1. yup. eBay.com! =]
  2. Ebay Motors is one. Many other legitimate auction companies have online bidding -- such as Jackson-Barrett, and others. I think you are confusing the actual auctions with the web sites that sell directories to auctions. These directories are not necessarily scams, but they can be out of date and not provide good data. If you buy one, make sure the site has a money-back guarantee. Buying cars at online auctions is risky since you can't see the car, can't inspect it, and can't drive it. eBay has the best buyer protection plan. There are also government auctions, some online, some not. Here's an article about it: http://www.leaseguide.com/Articles/carauctions.htm If you are going to participate in auctions, don't jump in and start bidding immediately. Take the time to observe how it works, how other people bid, and learn how to judge the value of the cars you bid on. It is too easy to get caught up in the excitement of bidding and pay too much.
  3. The govt auction websites are the home of the scammers. Avoid them. You say other than eBay but eBay is the absolute best, if you go in person and see the car before buying.
