What are some dead give-aways on a kit-car?
What is the fastest way(s) to determine the authenticity of a collector car on an online auction? With the quality of kitcars these days, pictures are not always helpful. Assume i'd be examining it in person.

- The anser for this one is pretty easy, look for the "Compliance Plate), generally on the door frames, or under the hood, maybe on the firewall or inside the engine bay. Assuming you already know about the car before you go to look at it, look on the net and see where the compliance plate should be (It is a jailable offence in most countries to affix/ alter a false compliance plate). The best of all, is to ensure you take a mechanic with you when you are getting serious about buying it, as a kit car means you are looking at something out of the ordinary, and non- standard cars can be a bit expensive to fix (a good indication something is wrong, is is a cheap price) I know because I am on my second Porsche and have seen a few fakes. Also ask and confirm if the car has been in a serious crash, or is a rebuild, as either of those two will detract from the value of the car and make it hard for you to sell when the time comes to sell it.
