Can I use a standard storage unit to work on my car?

I have a classic car that needs restoration and the family garage is way too small. I need a space to work on it. Do most storage companies allow it?

  1. i dont know a storage place that is closed in that would fit a car.good luck with that
  2. most storage units in ohio will not let you use them for maintenance. I would call them and ask but I am guessing the answer will be no.
  3. some do. Call around to the places close to your home. Alot of times they do not have electricity available, which will be important for lights, etc.
  4. No, it is against the laws to do this at least in Michigan. Our company owns a few storage units at different locations and it is in the paperwork that this is not allowed and you can be sued for doing such. We here do drive by's at our spots daily to keep watch on our properties and tenants so if you are in Michigan, it's not allowed at all.
  5. Most companies wont allow u to have an inside space that u can drive into , because of the fumes and the cost to have the unit deeply cleaned once u vacate, but u may be able to find a cheap outdoor unit that is not covered and u can work on it outside in your designated parking space. But make sure they have a camera system that works and a keypad entry. Most outside non covered parking is under 70.00 per month.
