Do I Need vehicle Registration to sell car?

I am about to pay off my car so I will be getting the title from the bank soon. I plan to sell the car but I can't find the vehicle registration. I know I can apply for a duplicate copy but do I really need the registration to sell? I figure the new owner is going to need to register it once i sign the title over anyways.

1. As long as you have a clear title you can sell the car. Since a car does not have to be registered unless you plan on driving it on public roads it follows that proof of registration is not needed to sell a car. Hope this helps Jerry-the-bookkeeper
