What's your best car insurance quote? I'm with Budget at the mo, (ending in Sept) .....?

paid £314 fully comp with business use (got 7 years no claims bonus and 3 points on my liscense for speeding which shouldn't be counted now cos was back in 2003) Went on moneysupermarket.com and Budget gave me a quote for £177, still all the same details so why the £137 price difference? you can bet my renewel quote will be rubbish, it only dropped by £40 last year but couldn't be bothered with the hassle of paying new company deposit etc. What site would you recommend for cheap insurance? other than Confused.com Sorry this ended up being really long winded. insurance is for a '95 Rover 414.

  1. i used confused.com ... thing is good if you have no points.. there is another site.. compare the market.. perhaps the sites you went on didn't include the points, thats why you got the cheaper quote.. but having points does cause problems even when getting quotes. don't matter if its 7 years no claims, as i've got 15 years no claims, and it max's out at 5 years. A lot prefer not to take drivers with points / claims though..
  2. get a quote from TSB i got a great deal from them worth a call.
  3. I used one quote, they saved me a over £300 and the policy was much better.
  4. Hastings very good
  5. I found Zurich quite good with free green flag hope this helps
  6. I pay £24.50 per month, fully comp on a Nissan Micra but I am an old gal who has been driving for years and never had an accident, touch wood!!
  7. Try esure they gave me the best quote by over £100. Service is also good as I had a little bump about 6 weeks ago! Not my fault but they have been great! I was with Norwich Union before and the service was dire! Promised never to use them again.
  8. I've gone with Elephant.co.uk. They were the best out of several. I was with Churchill an who quoted me £58 per month for the following year but with Elephant I now pay £31 p.m. I did try these price comparison websites but heard they're on commission so you don't get the whole range of insurance companies or the best deal. Give Elephant a go. Maybe Budget are cheap because there are catches ie. what is the excess if you have an accident? - usually the less your insurance is the higher the excess would be if you had an accident. P.S. I think your points will stay on your records for 5 years? Not entirely sure. Hope this helps!
  9. I use www.thisismoney.com they always give me the best quotes from quite a few different insurers. Im with Liverpool Victoria CSMA at the moment paying £220 a year for Third party fire and theft on a 1.4 VW Golf, im 20 with 2 years ncb and no points on my licence. Cheapest insurance of anyone I know who is around my age.
  10. I always shop around. Check the web, make some phone calls, and word of mouth. Do not take the cheapest quote look at all the options. Good luck
  11. Don't just go with the cheapest price - they make it back on other ways - I was with Budget and their customer service stinks, they charge £25 to change policy details and £100 to cancel the policy! Direct Line has good customer service.
  12. im with more than this year.its 434 quid fully comp ive 3 points also.im 35 yrs old with 10 yrs no claims.ive got a bmw m3 convertible worth 34k.i think thats a good price.got to be worth a phone call.
  13. try the post office insurance service, my son saved £400 i kid you not.
  14. First of all - you will have to declare your speeding for another year (it takes 5 years to be spent) Secondly - Budget are notorious in the industry for adding fees onto renewal letters - you probably have to pay a £20 renewal fee and £25.00 for legal expenses and if you pay by instalments an additional £30 for that! I suspect that: a) The quote online is for pleasure use with a high excess or assumes other factors. Alternatively the quote may be through a different company with which Budget have an agency and Budget haven't bothered to check the market on your behalf. b) They won't charge an admin fee for new business c) They probably throw in the legal expenses free (it only costs them a pound! I would look in the telephone directlry and find a local insurance broker - they will have the same agencies as Budget and you are far more likely to get a better service from them - all of which counts as well as the price.
  15. CHECK WITH THE BOARD OF INSURANCE WHICH IS ON LINE AND THIS WAY YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE FIRST HAND ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES INCLUDING THEIR RATINGS AS WELL AS HOW THEY PAY AND TREAT CONSUMERS.
