Selling the car just paid off from Capital one?
So I am selling my car because I'll be leaving the US in less than 2 months. The problem is that I just paid off my car loan and I currently do not have the title (pink slip) of the car. I'm wondering if i can legally sell the car without the title? i called capital one, they said the lien release is gonna be on April 14th. Does that mean I need to wait til that day to sell my car?

- The easiest would be to wait until you have the title in hand before you list it. That way, prospective buyers won't be driven away by what could become more than they want or need. It would also make it near impossible for them to register and title the car in their name WITHOUT your title to surrender to the DMV.
- I would call Cap 1 again and request a lien release ASAP. to have to wait a month is ridiculous. Ask for a manager and see if you can go and get one or get it mailed out to you sooner. I think what they are doing is releasing the lien through DMV. This is a paperless title and a new title would be issued to you. By getting a lien release sent to you can speed up this process.
- You shouldn't have to wait so long for your cleared title. You should talk to Capital One again and insist that it be sent sooner. Tell them you are selling the car and need it now.
