- ask your friends
- Yes. save the money. At your age why would you spend your savings on making a car fast? What about a house, school, bills, ect. Wait til you have 25,000+8000 before of even thinking about modifying. No wonder your age group has most accidents and repairs. To properly modify any car to get more then 1 second shaved off 1/4 mile will cost about 15,000.00. Your age will buy a economy car like Honda and put turbo without exhaust, cold air induction, cross members, brakes, suspension, new tires and wheels, new ignition and wires, cam, shorty headers, motor mounts and then turbo. This is about 15 grand with cheap turbo. any other way will endanger you car and other drivers. soon no 6000.00 and no car and no savings.
- 87-93 Foxbody Mustang GT. You can find a clean one for about $5000. Stock they are rated at 225hp and 300lbs of torque. Invest about $2000 in bolt ons and you will have a car that produces over 300hp and torque.
- better bet is to save some of that money and only spend about 2,000 on a get around car since the economy is sucking right now and we have no idea when it will pick back up. but if you want to go the car route i would say go for an older car that you can work on like a 68 Chevelle you can get a standard one pretty cheap if you are willing to look and then you can build it up as you go and you will get the looks you want because everyone loves classic Detroit muscle.
- First suggestion would be.. go out into your back yard and dig a hole...pour your money in, cover up....that's the best analogy for modified cars... if you really want to do this, start with a three year old honda civic, and find someone who really knows something to help you... don't bother with useless geegaws, only modify things that help performance..suspension mods, wheels, tires, exhaust, engine mods... forget the body kits, and fancy paint.... What they say is.." you can go fast, or you can look pretty..."
- I would be careful modifying a car because for one it is just blowing money into a car that you most likely won't stick with, plus since you are just 17 with a modified car, police will look at you a lot closer. Aside from that it would probably bump up your insurance a lot, and if you had an accident it'd be crazy.
