How long do car main dealers sell parts for a discountinued model?

I have just purchased an L (1993) registrationed 205 convertable. I have got htis as a classic toy to restore. It is one of the very last ones sold as the model was discontinued in 1994. How long will Peugeot continue to supply parts for? I am after an Inne wing structure which doesnt seem to be available on any patern parts companies that i search. Will i be able to get it from Peugeot still?

  1. maybe, maybe not. Usually new car makers make the parts for 10 years after the car is no longer made. That puts the end of them making parts at 2004, or 5 years ago. Some places might still have them in stock, but doubtful.
  2. About 20 years from when discontinued. But the car club sites are a good place to source parts from. Google search for the official 205 owners club site.
  3. I think that you will be able to source an inner woing without too much trouble but i would question your choice of car for restoration, there are too many of these still around for it to be worth the restoration cost.
  4. usually you can get parts for 10 yrs. on any car.
  5. Don't worry - any garage that do body work will either be able to source parts for at least twenty years after the production run has ended, and if they can't, then any decent bodyshop will be able to fabricate the required parts from scratch.
