Is my ipod broken or my cable?

I've had my Ipod classic for 3-4 years, and its gotten a good amount of use and been abused a little i'm sure. Recently, when i plug it into my car (its the kind with a cord you just connect to a hole in the car and then to the headphone part of the ipod) it sort of switches volume on me..like if i go around a sharp turn and the ipod shifts a teeny bit it goes static or just changes where the sound comes from. this doesn't happen when other people use their ipods in my car. when i listened to my ipods with headphones it also had strange sound. is it broken?

  1. Just old. i would say that you have taken care of it really good. The longest i have had an ipod is like a year. But its just old.
  2. You need a new headphone jack. When the iPod moves, the headphone jack is causing signal loss. It needs to be replaced, then your iPod will be good as new. I run http://www.podremedy.com and repair iPods. Check out our site.
