- first of all, do you know how to drive manual? you shouldn't learn on a nice car. at the beggining of your driving life, you don't have to get an awesome car.
- Nothing personal, but no I don't think you can. If the car is really a '57 Fairlane, then I'm almost positive it wont have power steering. If the car doesn't have power steering, I can almost guarantee you wont want it because after five minutes of driving, your arms are going to hurt. A LOT. Just another thing to think about.
- You can't go test drive a car like that if you've never driven a stick before. It's way different than automatic. You could mess something up. If you never driven a stick before and you go to test drive *someone else's* car and do mess anything up, you will have to pay to fix it.
- You may have problems with no power steering . I would suggest you sign up for a lesson at a driving school . Specify standard shift and see how you do .
- If I were you, Id practice learning the manual good for a year or two on a cheap throwaway car(almost everybody wrecks their first car) and buy a beautiful car like that fair line later in life.
