Is it ok to sale car with a check engine light on?

I have car that is a toyota 1995 right, and I plan on saling it by the end of this month. But it has a check engine light on is it morally wrong or better yet business wize. What should I tell a potential buyer about my car incase they ask?

  1. It would be to your advantage to find out what the check engine light is telling you. Have the error code read and then you can decide if you want to fix the problem or not. At least you'll be able to tell the new buyer what the error code is and what needs to be replaced. It would give the buyer more confidence in the car if the engine light was off and the codes were cleared. You may even get a few extra bucks out of them. good luck
  2. Would you buy a car with the "check engine" light on ?? Somebody might buy it, but they will not give tou much for it (unless they are insane) Get it fixed and you will get more $$
  3. If I was looking at a car I wanted to buy and saw a check engine light on, I'd walk away from it. If you want a quick sale, get rid of the problems so somebody will want the car. Like the other guy said, find out what the trouble is. You can get the code read free at AutoZone and even buy parts at the same place. Toyota genuine parts are pretty expensive. Aftermarket parts are a little cheaper.
