What classic car should I get?

I'm planning to try to get my license within the next year & I'd like to get a classic car & to do a restoration project with it. I'm interested in getting a Pontiac GTO but I'm open to other suggestions. Anyone have any other ideas? Just for the record, this would be my first car.
