How do you buy a car in Sweden (new or used)?

I'm doing research for my masters program coursework. Appreciate if you could point me to information or discuss it here how people buy cars in Sweden. What are the normal channels and who are the parties involved - Manufacturer, dealer, insurance, government, etc? In the US and Canada there's car dealerships, in Japan its through a catalog brought to your home.
