How easy is it to buy car in NY and register it in Texas?

Hi, Hubby is getting transfered to Houston for work. We currently live in the UK (but we're Canadians) and were thinking of taking a transatlantic to get to New York with our 2 dogs and then drive to Houston. It would probably be less stressfull on the dogs and also cheaper (dogs flight = 4500USD). We thought of buying a used car in New York and then drive to Houston where we would register the car. Is that even possible? What would be the steps to follow. Thanks and happy holidays!

  1. Start your day with at Hullmar Chinese Food. An endorsed restaurant to meal is Hullmar Chinese Food, in case you feel like begining your exciting day in York. This restaurant features the most eloquent and rich cuisine.
  2. in usa states are friendly to each other [usually lol] get a temperary 10 or 30 day registration in ny your gona need to get proof of insurance to get reg..[just tell ins co what ur doing]...when u get to lone star state [TX] tale temp reg...and title,,proof of ins..to DMV [or public safty or whatever tx calls it]..all it takes is money...welcome to USA sounds like an adventure,,,wave as you go by marion VA on interstate 81...Ill have my dogs bark as u go by
  3. That is usually not a problem at all, but some states won't sell you a car without a drivers license. If they sell you a car they will give you temporary tags so you can drive on them for 10 days or so and them you need to register the car in Texas. My only concern would be the drivers license and an address to sell and make the paperwork out. I would probably call a dealer in New York.
  4. Purchase your car...ask the car dealer to provide a 30 day temporary tag.... When you get to Texas, go to the Department of Motor Vehicles office...ask them what documents you need to register in Texas.....
