When it comes time to sell a car, how do you go about the test drive?

Do you let the potential buyer test drive it alone, or do you ride along with the person driving your car. This is for selling car privately. ? Like what is the procedure for this, especially if the car is worth a lot?

  1. i would not let them take it alone. go with them, you can talk about how great the car is!!
  2. i have done and seen others do it.you ride with them. i think it is a good idea to have someone else with you but it doesn't happen all the time. go with your instincts, i ride in the back
  3. I am actually skeptical now of test drives. I wont allow a test drive without a deposit, so I know they are serious. [If they dont like the car, etc they get the deposit back, no problem]. But I found a lot of people are broke, but come just to waste your time. This policy started after I was selling my Camaro, and someone came to test drive it.. and just absolutely beat on the car, and ended up blowing 2nd gear because he didnt know how to drive standard properly. If I had taken a deposit, I would have kept it to fix the car... from then on, I always have. Go with your gut feeling on the person. Your instincts are usually right.
