i want to sell my car? help. how do i go about this ?

do i need to take off my plates once i sell it? do i need to go with the person to change titles to their name? do i need to write a bill of sale writing "as is" i just dont want to get burned selling my car. its an old car selling for cash money.

1. You do not say what state you are in, but in most states you keep the plates (and either turn them in or transfer them to another vehicle). When you sell the car, you fill in the buyers information and sign over ownership. Do not give a private buyer the title without the information filled in. Make a copy of the title for your records.
