What about this for beginners car?

I'm shopping around for my first car. Based on my budget, I'll be looking around for a car with 180,000 + kms. I like it small, and not too plain looking. Currently I have integras, preludes, early to mid 90's in my mind, plus some civics. We were looking at another car, but I saw this car, it's a 1997 civic hatchback, sez, mint/excellent condition, 190ish thou kms, new timing belt, brakes, exhaust, ball joint (can't remember all those sales talk lol). I'm newbie in cars, so my friend that was with me checked the engine and said it looks good. only think i know is the body and inside looks good =D Is this a good deal? was being offered certfied and emission for $4500 (canadian). Are all those new stuff because it was well taken care of or because of overuse? thanxie :x they were also offering a cheaper hb, $3000 for 1995 with 65k on new engine but the body is not as good as the one above :( carfax sez it's clean

  1. It sounds a little high fo a Civic but if you really like it you likely can't go wrong
  2. ill say this again 1 civic: 15k traveling point a to point b: 40mpg gas mileage about 25$ to fill it up doing mods to your car- 10k driving to work with a car that has about 300whp and costs 20k less than stangs and vetts while owning their asses? PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
  3. Hondas are one of the best cars to buy used. they also hold there value plus are low maintance. but it also depends on how the previous owner kept up the maintance on the vehicle.
