What is the best car that i can modify?

Ok so i don't know a whole lot about cars, but im just startin to learn the real technical and mechanical stuff and am lookin for a nice tuner car. People have been tellin me cars like older Acura Integras, Nissan 200 SX's and Mitsubishi Lancers and Evo's are the best route. I just need to know what car im gonna have the best luck with. I want a car that isnt to costly to purchase, how much money i put into it afterwards is another story. I need a car that i can get the MAX performance out of. That i can Modify with Body Kits, Turbo Kits, Race Kits, etc. Any info will be greatly appreciated Thanks.

1. l love 240sx they are great but do not know if it is expensive to moddify or get a mustang with a V8 like i did. serious if i had to choose i get a 240sx, some years are different then other
