Chip Foose is an idiot.Do you agree?
I am a classic car fan,and I hate when he takes these cars on that stupid overhaulin' show and makes hot rods out of old cars.I believe if you're gonna spend all kinds of money restoring a car, make it all original! That's the whole point. If you want all this modern crap in your car, then buy a new car.I wouldn't even put disc brakes if the car originally had drums.Where's the nostalgia in the car if it doesn't handle and act like an old car? All those modernized classic cars he builds might as well be fed to the crusher now, since they're not orginal anymore, and nine out of then of them are at the point where the modifications are irreversible. There are so many old cars being destroyed in this manner.I especially HATE lowriders! That is the gayest thing I have ever seen!I wouldn't want my car brought to the overhaulin' show.I'd be pissed that someone went behind my back, stole my car,and did stuff to it without me knowing about it.

- if they want it back to original that's up to them if they want to make it a rod then what's it to you.as far as foose goes he is sharp at what he does
- I don't believe he is an idiot, but I agree with you about the show and some of his designs sucking like a leach on steroids. The first time I saw that show, my Facebook status changed to "I just watched Overhaulin', if anybody ever does this to me I will kill you" Also I disagree with you on your point of all classics should be restored originals. Sometimes cars are beyond the means of normal parts matching restoration, they're called resto-mods. I'm helping build a 1957 Ford Flat Panel truck right now, and it would be impossible to find and replace all of the parts that have broken or eroded from old age. It's much easier to add aftermarket than to find original parts and get them all to work. Some cars are meant to be original, but the vast majority aren't. And things like disk brake conversions or new valve covers or air filters can be undone in an afternoon if the driver wishes to sell the vehicle. Most keep the parts that came with the car and put them back on the vehicle when they want to sell it, or they just sell them with the vehicle to save time.
- Opinions are like assholes, everyones got one! Foose is the leader in his field when it comes to designing and upgrading older cars into something much more modern and usable! The name of his show isn't Restoration! Most of the cars he uses would have just sat there unused and slowly rotting away, he makes them into something that is very cool and usable in this modern day and age! I agree with you, no one should take a high dollar, low production car and change it from original, but the ones he does work to, lots were made, and they weren't rare or anything, he upgrades them to their former glory, plus some!
- don't believe what you see they don't steal the cars that would be auto theft
- All I can say is I don't completely like the way he restores some of those cars, like putting a stereo in the glove compartment.(YUCK!!)
- If you really watched the show he has a family member that tells him what the owner most likely wants such as motor, stereo, color etc. I don't agree with the lowering of the cars and some of the thing he does paint and interior wise but I have a 65 mustang and if he wants to overhaul it I will help him "steal" it. He is great at what he does and should be recognized for it.
- Chip's alright. I don't care for some of the stuff, but like the other guys said, it's not a true "restoration". I agree with some updates, I don't agree with removing a matching numbers drivetrain and installing a crate motor and trans. One thing I can't stand is those damn low-profile tires on everything. Doesn't make sense. Truthfully, if you want to complain, watch some of the other shows. I forget the name of it right now, but there's one where this guy "re-creates" valuable cars. He takes an old car and turns it into a rare model that it never truly was. And then SELLS them at auction for outrageous amounts. It may look like a classic, but it aint. In my mind, it's more like fraud.
- nah i disagree. Now I don't really like the way he builds them. They are good looking but not my style But I would rather see a car done as a lowrider or pro touring style than crushed or sitting out in a field rusting away. Everyone has thier own styles. Nothing wrong with putting disc brakes on an old car. You cant see them and it makes a world of difference in the stopping power.
