Back out from Car Purchase?

I live in st Louis MO and I was in the search for car sales, when I finally found the one I like i went to see it. since i dont have enough credit history i needed a co-signer. My co-signer was of for some days but the dealer salesman said that didnt matter., they told me if I had the co-signer info they could use it to see what kind of loan I was going to get. so they did it, just with my word, not any consent or approval from my co-signer. I also told them that the co-signer was out of town for a week so He couldnt come sign before that timeframe. all that happend during the weekend. The day that I went to find out what kind of Loan rate i was going to get and also to sign (monday)I went to the dealer without the co-signer and they said it was fine for me to sign without the co-signer. Since is the first time i was purchasing a car i didnt understand very well what the financial manager was explaining to me and I told him that I prefer to be with my co-signer so he could help me understand what He was explaining since english is not my first language. He basically told me that he had to re-do all the paperwork all over again and there was no use. so I felt under pressured and I signed the paperwork.. The next day after I took the car from the dealer, the car start showing mechanical problems. There is a sign on the dealer where it says 48 hours free hussle, if the car is not right we will take it back. So I called within that time frame and said that I wanted to return the car, and neither the Salesman, the Financial Manager or the General Manager help me and said the car cannot be returned, that they have reported the car as sold to the state and that I already signed.. even though my co-signer never show to signed any papers because it was still out of town. Then when I attemted to return the car again the General Manager told me that the only way to return the car was if they couldnt fix the problem, even though in the ad on the dealer doesnt say such thing, it says if the car have any mechanical problem and you are not happy with it, within 48 hours we will take it back. We took the car back and gave back the keys to the General Manager and we havent heard from them. Can someone tell me in this case what can happen? can I get off the Deal? I meant the first option I already gave the car back with a Letter to the dealer, I talked to my attorney and im waiting to see if they call me or send me a letter. They actually didnt give me any copies or any documents for me to see what I signed for. But I thought about the second option, paying the loan and sue the dealer. 1.- for taking my co-signer information and run the credit score. Even if I gave them to them because I have his information doesnt give them the right to do it without his consent. 2.- False advertisement. 3.- Pressured me to sign the papers. Do you think i could sue them for those reazons if they dont want to back off the deal? Thanks so much sage..your first answer was really helpfull. Im just checking different opinions. 1. have an attorney write a letter to the dealer before this gets out of hand/do it and pay the attorney or you will be all messed up
2. Is this a new or a used vehicle purchase? In terms of the loan, if the dealer wants to honor the loan with you as the sole responsible party, they're certainly entitled to do so; but they certainly can't obligate your co-signer to anything he or she didn't sign. In fact, if the even checked the co-signer's credit history without first obtaining his or her express authorization, they've committed a serious crime in most states. Your ignorance or lack of experience is irrelevant. What you will be held to are the documents YOU signed, and if you didn't understand what the read, it's YOUR responsibility to simply not sign them. While the dealer's sign in the window promising a 48 hour satisfaction guarantee may help you if you decide to sue, the only specific terms you can hold the dealer to are those written into the sales contract. If the sales contract doesn't explicitly specify a 48-hour walk-away return period, it simply doesn't exist. Even if you return the car, you are still going to be responsible for any financing and paying the loan until the dealer repays it for you. If the dealer refuses, it will be YOUR credit history that's negatively affected if you refuse to make payments. It sounds like you have four basic options. The first is to return the vehicle, make the loan payments, and sue the dealer. The second is to return the vehicle, refuse to make the payments, accept the negative consequences to your credit history and the potential of being sued, and have your day in court. The third is to trade-in the vehicle toward another vehicle elsewhere as quickly as possible, taking a partial loss in order to be rid of the situation. The fourth is to simply accept the vehicle, make your loan payments, and repair the vehicle as necessary.
