How to buy a car privately from another person to drive it in Malaysia?

Hello, I am going to be a Canadian visitor in Penang, Malaysia, for 6 weeks and would like to buy a car there for transportation. What do I need to do to buy a car privately from another person there? Is there a simple way to check if a car is free of any loan (borrowed against the title)? With a bill of sale, how do I obtain registration, license, insurance (for collision and liability) for just 6 weeks as a foreigner licensed to drive in Malaysia? What would be the approximate total costs of the above for a car of RM6000 worth? I appreciate you prompt reply! Thanks very much! Larry

1. It's not wise to buy a car just to drive for 6 weeks. Your best option is to rent a car instead.
