How do I get the best deal on a new car?

  1. bargain with the dealer. Especially in time like these, they are desperate for some money--and for some commision. What you do is basically set the lowest amount and work with it, threaten to leave a few times and trust me--they get scared. So, its basically you are the one who sets the price. Good Luck! I hope i helped a little bit :]
  2. Buy one that is two years old.
  3. its feb now, u can get a really really good deal on a new 2008 cars, those cars are the ones dealers are trying to get rid off, need to be out of inventory. you can knock down at least 3k off the asking price. dont show them you want it, make the offer and if they dont like it, move on. they will call you back after :)
  4. Do your research. Be a knowledgeable buyer. Do you have a trade? Cash or financing? If you know the dealer's cost, current incentives (rebates), true value of your trade & interest rate you qualify for, it's quite easy. Remember, allow the dealer to make a buck. Just as you don't work for free, neither does the salesperson. Make ridiculous offers & you'll waste a lot of time without buying anything.
  5. I think you should definitely make it clear that you are entertaining other options (and that you are knowledgeable about the competitor cars in the class). Also, don't be afraid to walk away if the dealer isn't giving you the deal you want. Say something like "the people at Ford (or whatever) offered to throw in *some extra feature* for free and knocked 10% off the price." Or "why should I spend an extra $1000 on features that are standard on the *insert competitor's car here*?" If you look like you're really keen on this particular car, you'll get a worse deal. If you act like you don't care whether it's Ford, or Toyota, or Nissan, then the dealer will need to work harder to convince you to spend money with them instead of a competitor. Do your homework, and never accept the first offer. Always counter-offer. Good luck!
