Are old Austin mini coopers worth buying, like the 1986-1988 ones and are they classic cars to show off with?

im 23, will the car give a good image, im currently looking to buy one which is black, been resprayed and looks nice and clean.

those are the inbetweeners/to old to run long and not old enough to be classic/the repaint kills it for classic/
