Overhaulin'

Chicago, If I want to junk my car/sell it, do I have to re-new my expired plate sticker and city sticker?

my license plate sticker and city sticker is expired and i'm trying to get rid of the car. It has a ticket already about the expired plate stick. Can I still sell it? My other option is just to junk it, I don't want to pay the stickers though.

  1. If you have a car and are not driving it call the license bureau and tell them it is stored. Ask them if you are responsible for the ticket. Put an ad on www.craigslist.com sell as is. Call the permit dept. for your city and see where you stand. To find out what is is worth go to a forum on your car and ask listing all it's+'s and -'s. They will tell you. Put an ad on Craigslist.com and get it out of your life, free and good to move cars that are like yours. Good luck with it.
  2. No, it does not need to be registered for you to junk/sell the car. In most states you do need the title though to prove ownership. Many junk car removal services will get rid of the car for free, and some will even pay cash for them.
