- Of course you need to give them the title. The title indicates ownership, without it you could accuse them of stealing it. If they are buying the car from you, you need to sign over the title to them, that the car is junk is irrelevant. The license plates get returned to the DMV.
- no..the City does not get the title. WHOever gets the car, also gets the title, which proves that they can have possession of the car. is it "really" junk? what is it? whats wrong with it? License plates stay on the car in MOST STATES.
- The title goes with the car when you sell it. Even a junkyard wants a title to prove the vehicle wasn't stolen. You can keep the license plates if you're worried about someone racking up tickets in your name.
- You obviously need to give them the title...that's the document that proves ownership/
- Do a "bill of sale" and change of owner own the title. Sign the title and bill of sale and you are done. Bottom line, the title does go to the original owner.
- yes the title must go to you may keep the plates and return to the dmv but you have to sign over the title other ise you could say they stole the car
