is it bad to sell your car to a junk company?

hi, I just found out that my car has a done transmission or at least that's what the mechanic said anyway I was told to call a junk place to have them haul my car away for free but they are going to pay me $100 to give it to them. Is this a good idea are these companies legit?

1. Yes, they are legit. Had a junk car towed recently and they paid cash. But I had to wait a week for them to come tow it. Just make sure they hand you the cash before towing it away.
2. keep calling diff junk yards. they all buy cars . That is how they get them. I got 300 for my last one and they came and picked it up. some others just wanted to pay me 100. call all of them and see who will give you the most. You have to give them the title or they wont take it. not legal to do so. Then they sell all the stuff off of it. just call the ones in your phone book.
3. Yes they are legit, I would call around and see if you can get more than $100 at another scrapyard.
