I have a car that has 6 street sweeping tickets if i sell or junk the car will i have to pay the tickets ?

6 tickets that i have not paid and all are 6 mons or so over due

1. You are liable for the tickets whether you still own the car or not because it was registered to you at the time they were written.
2. If you sell the car the new owner will most likely not be able to register it, so it will come back to bite you. If you junk the car, sell it for scrap, no problems.
3. You have the tickets, not the car, its the registered owner/driver of the car when the tickets were issued who is responsible. You sell it to another person or junk, it doesnt matter. It will show on your driving record, it will show when you try to register another vehicle or when you renew your drivers license.
4. It depends entirely on the procedure your local jurisdiction uses to follow up on unpaid tickets. A friend of mine recently got booted for unpaid parking tickets and it was not the same vehicle or registration number that he had when he got the tickets - unfortunately, it was the same owner and address.
