Do you get enlightened from Classic Rock music?

About 5 years ago, I heard Sgt. Pepper and from then my life was changed. I listened to White album next, abbey road, rubber soul, etc in a particular order and then after them I found The Who and listened to Tommy. This led into me finding Led Zeppelin (and many bands in between, Queen, CCR, Bob Dylan) which led to me now being at The Doors. I would become "obsessed" with each song, disecting it second by second, for each band. I would analyze each part of the song, what made it great why its great and how it can say so much. I wouldnt force myself to do it, it was just natural I spend every second, literally, of the day either haivng a song by one of these bands in my head. Also, I am always listening to it, really loud in my car. AND, I am usually super high too but not to where I am fucked up but I literally feel Enlightened. ALSO...listening to these artists made me pick up the guitar 5 years ago and now I can play (at an expert level) Drums, Guitar, Mandolin, Piano, and many other instruments. Some, I will pick up for the first time and learn it within 5 minutes. I feel I am alot smarter then everyone and that I can read people incredibly well. I want to know if I have become enlightened by constantly listening to these life changing bands every second of the day..I am 99.9% sure I have but I want to know the information on what has happened to me in my life or if this is a common thing between people listening to these.

  1. yeah, it's true....i was "enlightened" at many of the grateful dead shows i saw....
  2. That's awsome. Maybe your a musical prodigy.. I too listen to these songs all the time, but I still need to watch a how-to video a thousand times to be able to play a song.
  3. I've found that most life changing experiences happen at one point or another which coincide with other particular events throughout our maturity as human beings.
  4. I do not feel particularly enlightened by classic rock. I once briefly glimpsed eternal nothingness while on line at the DMV but that was it. Pretty mind blowing actually. I often voluntarily subject myself to the tyranny of mindless bureacracy in hopes of catching that feeling again but alas, our civil servants have continually failed me.
  5. i know what you mean i found classic rock through led zeppelin
  6. You are my compatible. I don't know where I would be if I hadn't found classic rock. My biggest inspirations would be Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Who, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Smashing Pumpkins, and Radiohead. When I'm not listening to music, I'm playing it on an instrument. When I'm not doing that, I'm watching live performances of musicians on youtube. I am always singing a song in my head, or thinking about music. As for learning music, I am the same way! It all seems easy to me, if you give me just a few minutes. The greatest part about classic rock/rock is that it really has a depth to it. Songs are written from the heart and they really really mean something to me. I like to think "why does this mean something to me?" and make all those psychological connections. It is fascinating. I really can't describe the way I feel when I listen to this music. I really don't think it is a common way to feel, but I for sure feel it. I think- it is a gift of passion. A lot of people never find their passion and some take years to find it and i think you and I have found ours. Something we really LOVE to do.
