what muscle care is for me?

Hello i am 16 (turning 17 in July) and i am looking into restoring a muscle car with my dad or just getting a working one to customize over time. my question is what car should i get? i know i would like one of the classic muscles from back in the day 60-88 is my years. i am looking for one fast and reliable, one that looks more powerful than flashy such as 71 skylark 82 Camaro, a car that can be easily customized (i can easily find the parts without looking everywhere and paying top dollar.), please post with exact make and model, and pros and cons, thankyou what i am wanting to do is make a muscle car able to race. not really a drag car tho.

  1. 67-69 mustang. You can buy mustang parts like candy cuz they are everywhere and parts cars are easy to find. It just depends on what you wanna do and what you are willing to spend. I agree with ricardo9...to a point. Since i am currently restoring a 70 firebird, 76 trans am, and 79 trans am. Parts for the early 70's model are terribly hard to find and not too mention pretty pricey. Parts for all of them are hard to find actually. But 70-73 parts are the hardest. If i were you i would probably go with something you can get more parts for like the mustang as i said before.
  2. any of the pontiac firebird models. 68-on. I loved that car. the 68 camaro and on. i like gm for muscle in the late 60's and 70's. their engines were popular and top notch. easy to build and get parts for. durable as well - especially on teh tracks.
  3. well for one thing camaro/firebird and mustang are not muscle their pony cars. really any 1st generation of those 3 are worth every penny to be brought back to the streets. same with a charger/challenger. if i was to choose 1, i would not hestitate to grab a 69 z28.
  4. The perfect car is out there but the REAL question is which car would be perfect for YOU. It boils down to your budget, how much are you expecting to spend? If you have a set budget you want to make sure it covers all the things you want like "big engine, improved suspension etc". When you have your budget set here's the trick. Pick up a car that fits most of your "WANT LIST" right off the bat so that you don't have to spend too much more money adding the rest. If you can get the car for the right price right off the bat at a great price you have more money left over for the good stuff. If you spend most of your budget on just the car body and it has none of your parts want list covered it's probably going to sit covered in your laneway a long time.
