Do Modified cars loose value?

Such as car engine part to make the car go faster and stuff. Because i saw this car that usually goes up for 20k go for 11k and the modified one is cheaper.

  1. sometimes, many modification give better performance but kill the life of the vehicle
  2. Used and abused.
  3. Stock is the best value, unless you are in sync with car modifying geeks that will pay more for all the extra junk on a car.
  4. depends if the modification is done by a certified mechanic, if not the price will usually be less unless you know the person, also it depends what car, for example, any mod on a supercar that isn't done by a certified mechanic will decrease the price significantly because of the nature of the thing, for example another car, take a jeep and put off-road tires on it you'll see the price go up even with-out a certified mechanic, or a stereo
  5. As a buyer, you typically want a car that was used as gently as possible. When a car has a bunch of go fast goodies installed on it, it serves as an indication that it was driven aggressively and is probably not in as good shape as it could be. There would probably be more wear and tear on the engine, brakes, and transmission.
  6. thats a tough question.here is my opinion.it is rare i find a vehicle modified to my liking, and not knowing the history of the machine, its a safe guess that it has been abused some.i would steer clear of it. now when i build 1,ill go through the whole drive train breaking stuff till i get it right for the power level.after that, it will be tough as nails, and more dependable than a timex, however, nobody in their right mind would ever depend on my machine till it was theirs a while and they had messed with it a little. as with all mods, turning back just makes no sense.so a person wanting a daily driver will usually take the vehicle in near new condition, versus heavily modified.
  7. Some ppl like the car bone stock, and most like the fast car to be modded for more speed, single to twin turbo, exhaust, intake, downpipes, Electronics.. if its tastefully modded it will increase the value..
  8. Yes, modding lowers the value of cars for a couple of reasons but mostly because most people don't want a modified car. Most people just want a car to get from here to there so what do they want a modded car for? Once the car is modded, the market for it is reduced - it can only be sold to the few people who want a modded car and have not modded their own.
  9. Depends on the car and who's buying it.
  10. Most modifications lower the value of the car simply because in almost all cases these mods are done to suit one person, the owner. It is a very personal thing. The chances of finding another person who likes the exact same thing are very slim. Plus the fact that aftermarket parts make the car much less reliable. Plus the fact that anyone putting engine and suspension mods on a car is likely to run it hard and abuse it and that doesn't make for a good dependable used car.
  11. Modified usually equates to abused in most people's minds.
  12. Loose ? Do you mean "lose" but you cannot spell at a 3rd grade level ? Modified cars aren't worth anything to most dealers or people.
