Buying car for cash?

Please can someone advise me? A friend of my husband buys cars in the US and then ships them to Russia. He lives in MD and we live in VA (which has lower car tax then MD). So this friend asked my husband to buy 3 or 5 cars for him in VA (each is like $100,000). It is not illegal, BUT don't you think we will have tax problems? Or any other problems? How do I explain to my husband that he should not do it?
