Would supercharging my car lower its value?

My mom said I can't supercharge my 1989 Camaro because it would de-value it. It is a "classic" car. Would beefing it out make it worth less?

  1. Any modifications will lower the value of your car. There are several reasons for this: - Your car wasn't designed for this so its going to increase the wear and tear on your car. - There is no guarantee that the person installing that stuff made sure everything is compatible or even did the work correctly. - Your car is now personalized and everybody has different opinions on what they want on the car. An 89 Camaro is not a classic and likely isn't worth a whole lot right now anyways. If you want to supercharge it I'd say go for it. Just make sure you build up the engine, trans, axles, and brakes to handle the additional power. You don't want to spend the money on the supercharger only to break something else 1 month later because it couldn't handle the extra power.
  2. The value of your Camaro will only go up if it has all original parts. For example, if you already replaced the engine or transmission or intake or wheels or any interior pieces, then it is too late. So adding a supercharger would be okay. The vaue should stay the same.
