Value of 1969/70, H Reg, Classic Mini?

I have been lucky enough to purchase a 1969/70, H Reg, Mini 1000 (Classic Mini). I am wondering the true value of the car? I understand that generally Mini's go for quite a bit of money. The bodywork on the car is perfect, it's "showroom" quality. The car itself is sky-blue with two, white (go-faster) stripes on the bonnet and a white roof. The car has a brand new clutch, window rubbers, and is fitted with a rather lovely, limited edition rally dashboard. I would never sell the vehicle but would like to know how much it's worth just for the sake of knowing! Is there is a car enthusiast out there that knows the value? Does anyone know the best place to get "Classic Car Insurance" and lastly, the car is fitted with it's original number plate, which has a black background and silver lettering, are these still legal in the UK? Many, many thanks :)

  1. Other than finding out what similar cars in similar condition fetch there is no way to tell you. I general it is true to say it is worth what someone will pay for it.
  2. That's the Mini MkII, according to Practical Classics magazine a truly immaculate one could be worth around £3000, but as Timbo says, when it comes to that type/age, it's worth whatever somebody is willing to pay for it. There are many insurance companies to chose from such as 'Lancaster' and 'Gott and Wyne', buy a copy of any classic car mag, they're full of them. The registration plate is legal as the car was registered before January 1972.
