Trade-in value of classic corvette?

I've been unable to sell my classic 1981 corvette stingray (with only 60k miles) even though it is in excellent, original condition with all documentation. I was considering trading it in on a new model, but I feel that the dealer would not offer enough for the car. What do you think is a fair trade-in value for the car? I know that they can put it in the showroom and get a good sum for the vehicle.

  1. I don't know what a fair trade in value would be for your car. Have you had it appraised? How much is it insured for with your insurer? Those both can give you a decent idea of what it might be worth. You can also contact http://www.proteam-corvette.com/ . They buy Corvettes, from all over.
  2. I'd say you'd have a hard time getting a good value on your car considering there's no such thing as an '81 Stingray.............. You're better off on doing a private sale with that car.
  3. 25k-30kUSD. it also depends what type what engine and maybe what colour. The early 80's corvettes aren't as desirable as the earlier ones
  4. the prices may vary by location, such as the midwest versus california, and you will probably not get the best price trading it in to a dealer now. try to sell it on ebay, or through a private sale or one of the specialty car brokers. good luck
  5. I would have to see that and it should be worth plenty as you are the only one with an 81 stingray, as its the first I have heard of one
  6. Your car is officialy a Stingray but everyone calls these a macko (sp) shark after the factory show car in the mid 60's.Your car is worth what someone will pay for it.I have a 78 Vette and would'nt want an 81 becauce it is a early computer car with crossfire injection etc.
  7. Yes 1976 was the last year of the Stingrays. Nobody is interested in those Corvette years. I would just keep it.
