What needs to be done in order to sell a car to a scrap/junk yard?

My jeep has an unseated piston that causes it to overheat after about 5 minutes of run-time. I've tried getting a new head gasket, a coolant flush, and a new radiator, now I'm being told that the only fix is a new engine, so its time to part ways. Just no idea how to go about it without being taken advantage of at the junkyard.

  1. they usually give 200 and pick it up
  2. Call several yards, describe the car you want to get rid of, and ask how much they'll give you for it if you bring it in or if they come and get it.
  3. The junk yard will not pay you very much for the car, maybe 10-15% of the retail value if the body is in good condition
  4. I used to work at junk yards. Several times I have seen customers requesting to tow their cars without even asking for money. There are times, I have re-build the car and sold it with rebuild titles and made several hundred dollars. Here is what you do. Call at least three in your area especially auto salvage yards who parts it out. They are very knowledgeable and know the value of the car. Read the blog at http://www.buyjunkcarsnow.com
