How can I get Capital One to upgrade my platinum account?

I've been reading conflicting accounts on this. How some say they called, and were able to get this done. Others even saying they got an invite from Capital One to upgrade into Capital One's reward system. I tried, and the woman I spoke to said such a thing was not possible. Ever. And if I wanted to join their rewards program, I would have to apply for another card. A little background about me, I had credit card trouble from 2001 to roughly 2004. Long story short, I got my act together in 2005 on. Have a few different cards now and other lines of credit (Paypal Buyer Credit, Newegg.com) and recently a car loan. My lowest credit score among the three is 702 the other showing me in the 740 range. To be honest, I don't spend enough to really take advantage of rewards programs. I mean I have Blue Sky from American Express since early 2008 and I'm still not at 7500 points (The soonest I could redeem for 100 bucks off a flight). Still, I'd rather have a card that would give me something back, than nothing. And the Capital One Platinum is for people who have a bad credit history. And while I appreciate the offer they gave me to pay down what I owed them, while offering me this card back in 2004, I don't use this card much anymore. Because I have other cards that do give me rewards. I'm not looking to apply for another card. For I don't need another card. But if there's anyway possible to upgrade my account, I'd appreciate any advice. If not, then I'll keep this card and use it for some bills every month like I have been.

3. Call them and ask them to upgrade your account. Their customer service staff are very friendly. It's their collections staff that are evil.

5. The type of account you get is based on your credit history. Since you have some derogatory things in your past, Captial One won't be offering you any of the prime accounts. You probably would be turned down if you applied for a new upgraded account.
6. Don't bother, this is just Capital One's way of keeping you in their financial plan. You don't need another card, why do you want to "upgrade"? In any event given the still recent credit issues that you had you won't qualify for a reward card anyway. Long story short Capital One doesn't do upgrades or favors.
