Can I sell my car to a dealership for cash?

I don't want to deal with selling my car myself and am planning on buying a car from a private seller. My car is a 2006 Silver Ford Taurus with 70,000.

  1. Most of the time...yes....but you are not going to get close to what it is worth. Go to kbb.com and find out the value first.
  2. No Dealerships are in the business of SELLING cars, not buying them
  3. Yes. Most of them will buy it if its cheap enough that they can wholesale it for a quick profit. Most will be hesitant to make you an offer. They will ask "what you need" because they don't want to insult you. That way, when you give them a price they can simply say we wouldn't be a prospect. Id take it to 5-6 used car lots that deal in cars like yours and ask for offers. Or, since money is no issue, just take the first offer. Why worry about an extra $500,1000 or $2000 when you can do it quick & easy ! LOL
  4. Yes, although you will typically get considerably less for the car. Car Dealerships will usually give you a much higher value to your car towards the purchase of another car. They are making profit on the car you are purchasing so they are not as worried about making all of their money on the re-sale of your car.
