Is it true that New Car prices vary through out the USA?
My father told me that today. If it is true then I might just buy a plane ticket and take a roadtrip back. Is it true though? How much do new cars cost in your city? Im in Bakersfield, California. Ive been thinking of getting a Mazda 3 Hatch. 19,000 fot the "sport" and 22,000 fir the "GT". I dont believe that car prices change by city but you never know.

- Some people do that, but you are committed to buying otherwise the plane ticket(s) will be your vacation. There's also a state transfer fee($300) if the car will be from another state.
- NOT TRUE- If you live in Detroit or San Diego the cost to the dealer is the exact same. Sometimes the manufactures gives certain regions a discount on the cost of usually around $200-$300 for area with higher inventory. Even the freight to San Diego and Detroit is the same. Is it really worth it to get a plane ticket, spend 2 days driving, food, gas, hotels to save a couple hundred bucks. True story- A customer came into the dealer to purchase a new car. The buyer says well I think I can buy it in Denver cheaper. Dealer said, well that is the best I can do. A few days later came back to that dealer and rubbed it in that he saved $48 from the dealer in Denver. A couple weeks went by and now this person's could would not run. The local dealer told him that he had work on his customer cars first before he could get to his. 7 weeks later he got his car back.
- Not true, Nissan sells thier entire Vehicle line-up at a national MSRP each being the same in every state. What you might have heard is the Rate/interest in which the dealer will charge you depending on the zip code or city you live in, this excludes Puerto Rico as they have different MSRP pricing for the majority of every manufacturer that sells in that country. The Prices can change by city but not in terms of MSRP pricing, if a Nissan Maxima prices at $30,000 every state will have the same MSRP Pricing, the price will be different as a total depending on the city/zip code you live in so basically an MSRP of $30,000 + plus what ever they charge you depending on your location, thats where the difference comes it doesnt mean the cars are priced differently they all start at the same price point in the US. Had thier prices been different there would have been BOLD letters on thier website for each car saying under pricing saying, " all prices vary upon state"....which they dont, at least not in MSRP.
- You have the Christian cross in your user name and I like that so I will give you this advice that ALWAYS works for me. Get a quote from a local dealer then call EVERY dealer within a few hours drive and challenge them to beat it by at least $500. When the first one does beat it by $500 start calling them all AGAIN with your new best deal and and tell them again that you don't care who you buy it from as long as they can beat the deal you already have buy $500. I usually save about $2,000 or more this way and do it all on my phone at home. NEVER Try to include a car for trade in when doing this.
- The manufacturer's suggested list price is the same all over the country. But the freight cost is different from city to city making the price different. As well, because every car is haggled over for the price. the actual selling price will vary with every car sold.
- New car prices vary from dealer to dealer!!!! 2 thumbs down?? Have you people never bought a new car?? obviously not!!!
