Where can I find a 2009 model car?

I am looking to buy a new car (maybe a Toyota Yaris). I know that places still had 2009 cars toward the end of last year, so where did they all go? Would I have any luck finding one that isn't pre-owned in the Philly area?

  1. Looking for a left over from the previous year is actually a good idea and a way to get a good deal. Bad thing is you pretty much have to take what you can get, as the selection is not gonna be that great. Since you said the Yaris, look at all the Toyota dealerships in your area. Be willing to drive 30 miles away if needed to find the car. You can even look online, most dealerships have websites and keep a list of the cars they have in stock on their website. If none of them have what you want ask them if they can find you one. Many larger car lots are on a network with other lots across the country and can transfer cars around for customers who are serious to buy. Keep in mind though-right now Toyota has a shutdown going on due to some serious recall issues. The dealerships arent even allowed to sell many cars at this point. I dont know if the Yaris is included in this shutdown but its something to keep in mind.

  3. Like the other poster said, you cannot be picky about the car (ie, options, color, etc). I disagree with looking just in a 30 mile radius. I'd look within a few hundred mile radius! If you're able to save thousands on a new car by driving a few hours each way to pick the car up, you might as well. (Do the math- If you save an extra $1,000 but have to drive 4 hours total round trip, then that's like "making" $250 an hour.) toyota.com may have dealer inventory online. Or you can go to toyota.com and locate dealers within a few hours of you and just call/email and ask what their selection of 2009 Yarises are in stock. Test drive a 2009 Yaris locally to be sure that you like it, then search around for the exact car and deal you want.
