Question on title transfer of a classic car in WA state?

So DOL website say you have to pay taxes on fair market value. I am looking at a car that is for sale for $1500, but low blue book is $10,000. I know they won't let me pay taxes on the $1500. There has to be an easy way around this. What is it?

  1. Blue book doesn't always hold true. The condition of the car can make a lot of difference. A qualified appraiser might be able to help.
  2. Book doesn't mean squat. Should you buy this car, make a copy of the ad and get a signed statement that you paid $X for it. Make sure to state any problems it has (bad engine , needs paint etc.) The seller may have to fill out an additional form to verify condition. I know. I bought a Mercedes for $200 and they tried to get me to pay tax on $5000.
  3. for sale for $1500 old car they go by age or worth shouldnt be much
