How can I get my free pressure washer from Tesco?
Please help! I purchased car insurance with Tesco in June as they had a free pressure washer deal. I checked all quotes through confused.com and although other insurers were slightly cheaper, we went with Tesco because of the offer. Tesco are now claiming that because we went through confused.com we are not eligible for our free pressure washer. (I am not even sure we did as it was so long ago, although I have no proof) At the time I remember reading the terms and conditions several times and the only conditions I remember were that you had to be a new customer, have a clubcard and purchase between set dates, all of which we met. When I called today, they are claiming it said you had to get the insurance directly from them, either online or by phone. I am almost certain it did not say that as I would have met this condition if it was the case. Unfortunately I did not print out a copy of the terms. Does anyone have them? I'm sure they have been inundated with people taking up the offer and are at it! Has anyone else had a problem? I am extremely annoyed with the whole situation.

- This offer was only if you used Tesco website, purchased a specific type of policy, and entered the promotional code when you purchased the policy. It was not an automatic thing for everyone who bought a policy from Tesco. 1. http://www.money.co.uk/article/1000442-free-pressure-washer-with-tesco-car-insurance.htm says that, to "benefit" from this offer, you had to (1) "Visit the Tesco Car Insurance website", (2) get your quote [at that site, not at confused.com], and (3) "enter your Clubcard number along with the promotional code 'pressure' as you check out." You do not seem to have done either of these things. 2. http://www.insurances.co.uk/news/2009/Jun/Tesco-offers-free-pressure-washer-with-car-and-home-insurance.html says that the offer applies to "Standard car insurance cover" but not to "Value Car" policies. 3. http://www.compareandsave.com/blog/2008/5/1/new-tesco-offer-free-krcher-pressure-washer/ also says "To benefit from this offer you need to enter the promotional code ‘pressure’ into the 'Promotional Code' box on the quote form."
- Unfortunately you failed to read all the small print otherwise you would know that you are not entitled to one and hence tesco is not inundated with complaints.
- Tesco is correct, you did not buy your insurance policy from tesco but from confused.com therefore you do not qualify for the free washer. You should know who you got the insurance as they would have taken the money out of your account.
- By buying your insurance from a comparison site, you will be ineliglbe for any special offers, you would have also been charged more for your policy as they comparison site will charge the insurer a premium.
