What are the freebies one could ask for while buying a new car?

I am in the process of buying a new car and would like to know what the usual freebies or discounted items (other than vehicle features itself) are to ask for to the dealers.

Public Comments

  1. Floor mats, if they are not included are almost a given. Tint costs the dealer very little, and can be negotiated upfront. Pinstripe also costs very little. Full tank of gas.
  2. Some dealers will give you free basic service like oil changes and such for a year or so. Just tell them that another dealer made you that offer. Try for car washes, too.
  3. free tires when the new ones wear out
  4. "Free Tires when they wear out" will get you laughed at by the salesmen. Most dealers will negotiate on stuff that they pay for at time of sale not 3-4 years down the road. Ask for things such as a free remote start, pin striping or other small things. Do keep in mind also, if you are getting some type of employee discount, the dealer has limits on what they can give you. Such as Ford, with the employee discount, the biggest GIFT they can give you can not cost the dealer more then $50. As these are rules set by the manufacturer and can cause major issues if found these rules were violated, and it is up to the consumer to know these! Some manufacturer's even legal recourse against you if the rules are violated!
