Check engine light comes on & car dies when driving slow? 93 Buick LeSabre. Also the oil gage goes crazy ?
when I'm driving the car. Could it just be broke? I took it to a mechanic and he said it's the throttle position sensor? I have about $1,000 to spend either to fix this car or I can buy another cheap car. The car also needs a few wheel bearings and a new battery or alternator because it sometimes doesn't start. (Haven't had that checked yet) It does have almost 200,000 miles on it, but other than this I've had the car for almost 5 years & have put hardly no money into it yet. What would you do? Fix it or buy a new used car. The throttle position sensor is supposed to be what's causing the car to die when driving slow. That is $300, the wheel bearing is $300, a new battery or alternator up to $100 and the oil gauge I have no idea?? Total would be only $700 plus labor? I agree that at least I know what's wrong w/ the Buick & a new used car could be even more problems!

- There is an old saying "you buy a used car you buy someone Else's problem" At least with your buick you have a pretty good idea what you are dealing with. I would spend the bucks and fix yours. If you buy another car you will be spending money on it and not have any idea what is coming next.
- Fuel pump circut is run through the oil pressure sender, a bad switch can cause it to die. They are not very expensive try replacing it. Scotty
- Myself? I would take the money.. and gamble and that is what it is.. when buying a used car.. last year.. I went on line.. and searched for miles.. not cost.. got a 2004.. with less than 35,000 miles.. still under warranty.. at a dealership.. for less than 10,000. it was a steal.. so I would invest your money.. on a new car .. U no what is wrong with the one you have and you no u are gonna be out money on it.. so.. gamble on getting something a little newer.. and perhaps fewer problems.. I wish u luck..
