I plan to buy a used car, but this guy still owes money from the bank and hasn't pay off his loan yet.. Currently, he doen't have the car title, his lienholder(loan company) has the title... Can anyone help me with this situation? If I buy this car, will I have any risk? What should I do to make this sale safe and quick? Please help! I need this answer soon..... thanks!!!! 1. all you have to do is go to the bank with him and pay it off, they give you paid in full receipt, then have the bank make the title to you, that's a simple process, don't let him handle the money on it,you do the paying off, then you know its took care of ,if he doesn't want to do it this way find another car, this is a simple process, good luck on it.
  2. Simple... contact the leinholer... find out the payoff... make one check out to them...and another for the rest of the sales price to the guy who is selling it. Hand the 2 checks to the seller.

  5. Sounds fishy to me. Maybe he is scamming you? Is the price very low for the car,red flag. Is he calling the shots about what you need to do? Red flag. Smooth talker very convincing red flag. Trying to rush you? red flag.
