Should I demand my Hubby sell his classic car if it's gonna help us get a better one?
My Husband owns a 73 Nova SS that needs a lot of restoration work. Needless to say it's a gas guzzler. We also have another car that we use to get around, but now we need another car since we both work. I really like that he is passionate about his classic, but if he got rid of it we could get something better. I dunno what to do! We've already talked about it but it's such a hard decision. Please, help me. Wow, those are all great suggestions. The car needs at least 2G's of body restoration and the inside is a wreck. I personally would love it if he would keep it cus I know I would hate it if he asked me to sell something that means a lot to me. And I definetly don't want him to hate me for it later. I think I am going to ask him to get another job. I don't have anything of value otherwise I would sell my stuff. Thanks so much!

- Sure, force him to do it if you want him to resent you for years, getting worse when he sees another restored one on the road. Unless it is HIS decision to sell it, it could eventually be a marriage breaker.
- Only if u sell ur favorite jewelry.
- An old car that needs a lot of work will always be a money pit. Financially, he needs to dump it. However, guys are emotionally attached to cars like women are to their stuff. It won't be easy to get him to sell it, especially if it runs and he is driving it. I don't have an easy answer here. Some guys will leave their wives to keep their cars. It's all about how attached they are to the car. Maybe the answer is to get a part time job to pay for the new car or pay for gas for the current ones. Sometimes if a person has to work 70-80 hours a week just to keep the old beater on the road, they rethink their priorities in life. Good luck, I know this is not easy to deal with.
- hard to say I would first say what is it worth if it need s a bunch of work classic or not it wont bring that much money also old cars dont have to be money pits often they are built very well if the person working on them knows what hes doing you can go a long way on reasonable money
